Talent Development
McKinsey, the consulting firm, is well-known for it's research-based insights. In one such study, they found that those companies that provide their leaders (or potential leaders) with either cross-functional experiences, and/or global experiences were much more successful than those that did not. In fact, they found a direct correlation with improved financial performance.
But providing such experiences to many high-potential leaders can be impractical.
The right business simulations embedded with other Leadership Development initiatives, can be very valuable. Such business simulations can provide a virtual cross-functional experience, which is the next best thing as the "real" thing.
