The close relationship among the various departments of a company is often unfamiliar to individuals who work exclusively in one department. The big-picture view provided by the simulation was an excellent reminder that every company works much like a living organism, dependent on all other functioning units within the company. It provided valuable insight into some of the key departments that directly impact the business.
This course reiterates not only the need to collaborate with other functional groups, but it drives home the points that everyone must be on board trying to work toward a common goal and following a common strategy. It is imperative that functional groups (i.e., all areas of the company) see the bigger picture and understand what goals the company is trying to achieve. This simulation brings out these points in dramatic fashion. Every decision by one functional area interacts with the decisions of the others, and if one group goes off track, it affects the whole company.
The biggest opportunity I see from the experience is the utility of cross-fertilization in corporate problem solving.

I am presently launching a Q4 project with the objective of end-of-year revenue. I learned how to adjust the component parts of the project to improve my original projections.
My perspective of the overall corporate function will allow me to pursue, in greater depth, improved sales through better business acumen. To be able to communicate an understanding of how corporate decisions impact an organizations bottom line. This will enable me to be a more effective consultative sales person.
